GYPSY

Set all across America in the 1920s and 30s, when vaudeville was dying and burlesque was born, Arthur Laurents’ landmark show explores the world of two-bit show business with brass, humor, heart, and sophistication.

Regarded by many theatre professionals as the finest musical ever created, GYPSY is the ultimate tale of an ambitious stage mother fighting for her daughters’ success – while secretly yearning for her own. Based loosely on the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, GYPSY traces Louise’s (Kenzie Mosher, Alivia Vander Tuig as Young Louise) unlikely rise to burlesque fame from her beginnings in a vaudeville act initially featuring her younger sister June (Shana Vander Tuig, Bryn McNea as Baby June). Mother of all stage mothers, Rose (Karli Kelley) is the formidable force behind Gypsy’s rise to fame through the last days of vaudeville to the burlesque stage.

The celebrated score by Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim boasts one glorious hit after another, including: “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” “Let Me Entertain You,” “Some People,” “You’ll Never Get Away from Me,” “If Momma Was Married,” “All I Need Is the Girl,” “You Gotta Get A Gimmick,” “Small World,” and “Together Wherever We Go.”

GYPSY is Directed by Larry Untiet with Music Direction from Denise Riet and Stage Management by Lynn Morris-Turner. Gypsy is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Tams-Witmark LLC. www.concordtheatricals.com
